The "Mommy" in me

Every young girl dreams of the day when she hears the adoring word "Mommy" coming from her own precious child's mouth. When that day finally comes, pictures are taken, the video camera runs, we send the video to anyone who acts remotely interested and we cherish that very special time. We try to get our child to say it for anyone who walks within a one mile radius and every time they do, we clap our hands, tears fill our eyes and we feel as if our childhood dreams have finally become a reality. Soon the cherished word is no longer said out of love or adoration, but out of pain, or frustration, or just pure spite. We no longer want everyone to listen to our angelic children saying that most sacred word. That is because we don't want to hear it anymore ourselves. The once cherished name now gets on our nerves. It has been repeated time and time again until our little angel's get our attention, and every mother knows from the sound and tone of the "Mommy" being yelled what is coming next. Mommy can I have... Mommy I want... Mommy he did... Mommy she won't... Mommy I can't... Mommy can't you... Mommy won't you... and a thousand other phrases that are repeated until we want to tell the child using the forbidden word, that we are not in right now and to leave a message after the beep!

Seriously loved this article. It is so true. Actually I am not sure I ever wanted to hear mommy. lol, just kidding. I guess thats how mommy feels when we call her mommy. Here we are 27 and 30 and still calling her mommy. I bet she just wants to kick us. (SMILE) Then again maybe not.
